Have you ever wondered why buns are worn in ballet class? When you wear a ballet bun you show respect for classical ballet dance. Buns make your hair look tidy and pretty. They also assist with balance by giving you a center point. A bun allows a dancer to move freely and is as important as wearing ballet slippers. You don’t want your hair to flop around or get in the way when you are doing a pirouette, chasse, or jete.
Moving hair can accidentally hit other dancers, or even yourself, when you are trying to dance ballet. This is why it is a good idea to wear your hair in a bun. Buns are ideal for ballet class and performance because they pull the hair away from the face. The dancers’ lines of the shoulders, neck, head, arms and back are visible. Buns are flattering because they highlight facial expressions. Buns are a popular hairstyle outside of ballet. Sweeping your hair up into a bun is a stylish way to stay cool during the summer months. So, let’s learn how to make a bun!
Items To Assemble Before Making Your Bun:

Step By Step Guide To Making A Bun:

- If using a bun maker: put the bun maker around the ponytail. Spread the hair to cover the bun maker. Place a hair elastic around the bun. Spray and smooth the hair. Twist hair ends towards the bun. Use bobby-pins to secure the hair. Use hairspray as needed.
